Introduction

The Rigging Gear Inspector Course is designed to build and enhance the skills of the student to become a qualified, in-house rigging gear inspector. The course includes classroom sessions and multiple hands-on inspection activities. Participants learn the removal criteria for wire rope, wire rope slings, synthetic web, and round slings, chain slings, rigging hardware, and below-the-hook lifting devices according to the applicable federal and provincial regulations as well as ASME standards. Written exams are administered and participants perform hands-on inspections of used and damaged gear to test their knowledge of the criteria learned. We start with a wide assortment of slings and rigging gear with varying degrees of damage and deficiencies that allows participants to learn inspection hands-on. Training Methodology

This is an interactive course. There will be open question and answer sessions, regular group exercises and activities, videos, case studies, and presentations on best practice. Participants will have the opportunity to share with the facilitator and other participants on what works well and not so well for them, as well as work on issues from their own organizations.
